What’s In Store With Comprehensive Safety Analysis (CSA) 2010…?

In the coming year, the safety record of your company’s fleet will be scrutinized more than ever before. Every company with commercial motor vehicles must be ready for the impact of CSA 2010 because this new system will measure the safety record of you and your drivers.

The CSA 2010 safety measurement system will rate drivers and carriers on seven Behavior Analysis & Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs). Infractions in any of these areas will result in more contact with FMCSA. This may mean targeted roadside inspections, warning letters, offsite investigations, onsite investigations, or other forms of communication to correct unsafe activity. Below are the Seven BASICs.

Behavior Analysis & Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs)

    Unsafe Driving.   Fatigued Driving.
Violations including speeding, reckless driving, inattention, improper lane changes.     Hours-of-Service violations.
    Driver Fitness.   Drugs/Alcohol.
Violations involving the lack of credential, training, or medical qualifications.     Use of controlled substances or alcohol.
    Vehicle Maintenance.   Cargo Securement.
Violations involving improper or inadequate maintenance or vehicle condition.     Improper loading or cargo securement.
    Crash Experience.
Crash history; DOT recordable accidents only.
