    • How the value of non-cash prizes can affect overtime;
    • Counting shift differentials toward overtime pay;
    • When extra compensation does not count toward overtime;

    Reasonable accommodations in the workplace

    A number of laws require employers to make reasonable accommodations in the workplace. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that reasonable accommodations be provided to individuals with disabilities, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act requires employers to reasonably accommodate employees’ religious beliefs, and various state and local laws require employers to consider accommodations for pregnant workers. The federal Pregnancy Discrimination Act may also require employers to provide accommodations to pregnant employees.

    In all cases, reasonable accommodations are intended to allow an employee to perform his or her job, but they aren’t required if they impose undue hardship on the employer. However, in many ways, these different types of accommodations are just as unique as they are the similar. Join us as J. J. Keller's HR experts discuss:

    • When is an accommodation needed?
    • How should an accommodation be determined?
    • When is an accommodation considered reasonable?
    • What types of accommodations might satisfy employers’ obligations?
    • What constitutes undue hardship?
