Fed Med Card: What to believe (or not)

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has always put an emphasis on ensuring drivers are physically qualified to operate commercial motor vehicles. In fact, violations associated with medical qualifications have showed up consistently during carrier investigations over the years. In CY 2013, the top 20 critical violations include three different recordkeeping violations:

    • §391.51(b)(7) - No Medical Certificate In Qualification File
    • §391.45(a) - Using A Driver Not Medically Examined And Certified
    • §391.45(b)(1) - Using A Driver Not Medically Reexamined Each 24 Months

Also, during carrier investigations, FMCSA listed "§391.11(b)(4)(1) - Using A Physically Unqualified Driver" within the top 20 acute violations.

With so much on the line, motor carriers need to be aware of the most recent regulatory developments relating to a driver's medical certification.

Join us as J. J. Keller's DOT experts cover the most up-to-date information on the driver's physical examination topic as well as the Medical card/CDL merger rule and National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

Top Violations and Issues in Construction: Best Practices to Stay in

OSHA considers construction to be a high-hazard industry because it requires workers to engage in many activities that may expose them to serious hazards such as:

    • Falls from rooftops and ladders,
    • Unguarded machinery, backovers, electrocutions,
    • Exposure to silica dust, asbestos, and other airborne contaminants

In this webcast, we will examine the top violations in construction and the hazards OSHA has been zeroing in on through regulation, enforcement, and outreach activities.

We will also provide information and resources, which can help in identifying, reducing, and eliminating construction-related hazards.
