Frequently Asked Questions

What hardware do I need?
You will need a PC with a minimum 1.0 GHz Pentium (or compatible) processor, 1GB RAM, Windows 2000, XP or Vista 32-Bit, HP LaserJet or compatible printer, High Speed Internet Connection and a DVD Drive for Product Installation.
What scanners are compatible with KellerSCAN®?
The KellerSCAN® system is designed to work scanners that use ISIS drivers only at this time. J.J. Keller has tested and approved scanners from the following manufactures Kodak, Canon, and Fujitsu. J. J. Keller only provides software and does not sell the scanners required for the KellerSCAN® Software. J.J. Keller has however negotiated preferred pricing through PCNation® for KellerSCAN® customers on new scanners. Your software sales representative can provide you with a list of compatible scanners and PCNation's contact information.
Do I need special logs?
Yes. The software works with a scannable log designed specifically for KellerSCAN®. The log has a light blue background with white boxes that guide the driver in filling out the required information and help the system locate the readable areas. The logs are printed on a slightly heavier paper that is sturdier for scanning. Your software sales representative can show you several log styles. As always, custom printing options are available.
Is technical support available?

Support for the KellerSCAN® system is provided under an annual service agreement. This agreement provides for program fixes, most minor regulatory changes, and unlimited telephone support. Customers that hold an annual service agreement are eligible for discounted enhancements and product releases during periods of availability. The annual service agreement is required with the initial purchase of the system.

The technical support group is responsible for problem tracking, problem analysis, and problem resolution. KellerSCAN® customers are responded to on a priority first-come, first-served basis. Customer service hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Central Standard Time.

Does J. J. Keller offer training?

While KellerSCAN® is designed for ease-of-use and includes an extensive on-line help system, an optional 8-hour on-site training session is available to those customers that wish to maximize their software investment. This full-day, intensive program is designed to offer users complete exposure to the capabilities of the system and provides access to J. J. Keller resources trained in configuring the software based on specific customer requirements. Training is available as a standard offering or can be configured based on individual customer needs.

The standard training and system configuration program includes:

How will KellerSCAN® change my log auditing process?

If you currently audit your logs manually, it's tedious and time-consuming. The KellerSCAN® system allows you to automate the auditing process by scanning the logs using the latest scanning technology. Data that is unrecognized is then stored in batches for manual verification and is highlighted and enlarged for correction or verification.

KellerSCAN® allows for flexibility in the process. For example, logs can be scanned in at one time, the verification can take place at a later time, and reports are accessible at any time after verification. The log image and the log data are stored in the system and can easily be retrieved for viewing or printing. No sorting is required prior to scanning. KellerSCAN® also provides the ability to add company violations.

Just having a good feeling that I am in compliance. When I took this over, oh it was in a mess. There wasn't a single driver in compliance corporate wide. I went from zero compliance to 100% compliance, and that's a good feeling."
